the alphabet.

Tips to develop good handwriting skills.

• Encourage children to use their fingers to ‘write’ letters in the air or in sand or on the blackboard or chalkboard.
• Let children practise patterns. Patterns help in developing writing readiness.
• Ensure that the child has the right sitting posture, proper pencil grip and adequate lighting.
• The pencil should be held lightly between the forefinger and the thumb with the middle finger providing extra support.
